Admission Requirements
Most of our college partners are open access institutions. If you graduate from an accredited high school you may earn college admission. However, if you are pursuing an associate or baccalaureate degree, specific academic requirements must be satisfied before you are formally enrolled in a degree program. These requirements vary according to program and college.
- Before you register for classes, your college will assess your academic credentials through testing—such as the ACT Compass® placement testing for mathematics, writing, and reading. If deficiencies are indicated, you will be encouraged to enroll in developmental courses to build a strong foundation for rigorous college curriculum. These courses often carry college fees—without awarding college credit.
- In high school, mastery of your technology must be aligned with solid achievement in math, writing and reading. Making up deficiencies in college increases your costs and lengthens the time required to earn a degree.
- Plan early for college. Many colleges require one or two units of a foreign language. If you take a language in the ninth and 10th grades, you can concentrate on your technology during last two years of high school.
